DWeb User Guide

Learn how to set up DWeb Storage in Save, create or join a group, upload and download files, and resolve common issues.

Save includes DWeb Storage support for creating groups, adding repositories, and sharing files with other group members. This guide explains how to complete the initial setup, create or join a group, upload and download files, and resolve common setup issues.

Before You Start

  • DWeb Storage is still in beta stages, and should only be used as a concept demonstration. You may occasionally see errors or need to retry an action.

  • For best performance, keep file uploads under 50 KB.

  • Some setup steps may vary slightly depending on your phone model and Android version.

Initial Setup

  1. Open Save and go through the introduction screens.

  2. Allow notifications when prompted.

  3. Wait until you see the Service Connected notification. This may take a few attempts.

Create a Group

  1. Tap the Add Server (+) icon.

  2. Select DWeb Storage.

  3. Tap Create Group.

  4. Enter a Group Name and a User Name.

    Avoid spaces and special characters in both names.

  5. Wait for the success message. This usually appears within 30 seconds, but may take up to 2 minutes.

  6. Tap Share QR Code to invite others to your group.

Upload Files

  1. Open the hamburger menu and select DWeb.

  2. Tap My Groups.

  3. Choose your group.

  4. Open your repository. This is the User Name you created earlier.

  5. Tap the Plus (+) button.

  6. Select a file to upload.

Share a Group QR Code

  1. Press and hold the Group Name.

  2. Select Yes when prompted to display the QR code again.

Join a Group

  1. Open the hamburger menu and select DWeb.

  2. Tap Join Group.

  3. Scan the group's QR code.

  4. Enter a User Name to create your repository in the group.

Download Files

  1. Open the hamburger menu and select DWeb.

  2. Tap My Groups.

  3. Choose the group.

  4. Navigate to the repository.

  5. Tap the download icon on the file you want to download.

Troubleshooting

If you run into issues, try the following steps.

Install APKs

Your phone or tablet may not allow APK installation by default. When you open the APK, your device should tell you that it is an APK and ask whether you want to install it. If installation is blocked, follow the prompt to enable APK installation in your device settings.

Force Stop and Restart Save

  1. Press and hold the Save icon on your mobile screen.

  2. Select App info.

  3. Select Force stop.

  4. Restart Save and wait for the service to reconnect.

Clear All Data to Reset Save

  1. Press and hold the Save icon on your mobile screen.

  2. Select App info.

  3. Select Clear data.

  4. Select Clear all data.

Only clear all data when you are comfortable resetting the app state on that device.
